The Power of Appliance Based Messaging

There are primarily two ways to move data or messages in an Enterprise

MQ style messaging is historically slow for its guaranteed delivery and reliability feature as it needs to persist each and every messages to the disk. Innovative on-board persistence technology through appliance enables best performance as it works in wire speed using hardware acceleration for message processing and reliability.

Handling offline and Slow Consumers

Appliance based messaging platform are especially powerful during error or fault handling. If one of subscribed message consumer is not available, appliance based messaging platform push the messages to SAN(Storage Area Network) and when consumers backed up it place messages from SAN in sequence until consumer catch up (Thanks to high capacity and dedicated TCP connection). The best part is this process never impact publishers and other receiving consumers or components.

High Availability and Fault Tolerance

The appliance platform can be paired with redundant component for high availability and can be deployed as fault tolerant pair so that one fails, other takes over with no data loss. These messages are stored in non volatile memory or SAN. So even if power failure happens, all messages are preserved for later recovery.

One of major player in Appliance based messaging is Solace which uses a patented technology in its appliance based messaging platform. Please see more details here
